So the book I decided to pick was The Giver. Its about this community where there are no colors, no one says bad things, and there are no feelings or emotions. The story is based off of Jonah. In the community once you turn twelve you and the other twelve year olds in the community have this ceremony where you recieve your job for life for example; Birthmother, Laborer, Doctor, Teacher. As every twelve year old gets there job, they skip Jonah. The Council of Elders (the people who assign the jobs) tell him that he is getting the most honored job, the Reciever of Memories. For training Jonah gets memories of the communities past from the last Reciever, who calls himself the Giver. At first the Giver shows Jonah sweet memories of snow and Christmas, things he has never experienced at the community. But being the reciever of all memories he has to get the bad ones, such as poverty and hunger , pain and lots of others. Jonah eventually realizes that people should be able to chose for themselves and The Council of Elders shouldn't have a say in it. People should read this because it gives a different perspective on life and what life could be seen like even without all the wars and pain and how it benefits us.
